Isabel Francisco

Elementary Teacher’s Assistant

My name is Isabel and when I was a child I wanted to be an actress.

I studied Drama for over 8 years and finished my degree at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in 2013.

Since 2005 I have been teaching drama and dance to children, from 3 to 17 years old and it was with them that I realized that my theatrical path was much deeper than acting on a stage. I fell in love with co-creating dreams and presenting them to an audience because it is in childhood that we find the magical world of creation.

In October 2015 I took my backpack and traded everything I thought I knew, for East Timor’s ravishing sun. I learned much more than I taught and it was with the children that this learning happened. I organized drama and dance workshops and for almost 4 years I was a teacher in an International School. It was there where I first heard about Montessori and as a preschool teacher, the word “Play”, which we use so much in Theater, started making even more sense to me.

In October 2020 I had my first child, which brought me a new perspective on life and also an even greater desire to explore more about the Montessori world. With a full heart, I start this new challenge at Lisbon Montessori School, very grateful and very happy to be part of this great purpose.
