Helena Reid

AMI Casa and Elementary guide

Helena is an AMI trained Casa and Elementary guide, through the Montessori Institute Northwest located in Portland, Oregon. After spending nine years teaching upper elementary she embarked on the role of a casa teacher in 2022 at Lisbon Montessori School. Helena is passionate about the role education plays; she has served and is now serving as the head guide for her level, the staff representative to the advisory board and on the accreditation committee.

In addition to her Montessori teaching, Helena has degrees in International Relations and History from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She has experience in other fields including sharing her love of books by working as both a public and a school librarian.

Helena was born in Miami, Florida from Venezuelan parents with Basque and Portuguese ancestry. She is a proud step-mom, bio-mom, foster-mom and adoption mom. Helena believes that all children have incredible potential and when they are nurtured, guided and supported, they thrive and grow into life-long learners and confident young people.
